Goal: As part of their continued growth strategy to better serve customers and seeing outsized results in the California market, Nordstrom wanted to expand its Local footprint with two new locations in Newport Beach and Manhattan Beach. With an emphasis on flexibility, Nordstrom wanted to ensure their spaces can adapt to changing safety guidelines and shifting operational needs. The two additional locations offer services including online order pick-up, alterations and tailoring, styling, gift wrapping, donations, Nordstrom BEAUTYCYCLE, and more to reflect the unique needs of customers who live and work in target neighborhoods.
Lionesque: The Lionesque Group was hired as the full-service turnkey partner to bring the vision of Nordstrom Local to life in the two new locations in Southern California. TLG conducted a location analysis alongside Nordstrom to identify the appropriate real estate for its rollout which included specific site evaluation prior to lease signings. The space features a flexible model and floor plan that is adaptable to the changing needs of Nordstrom customers and Nordstrom fulfillment. TLG worked side-by-side the Nordstrom team to ensure design, customer flow and build out met the needs of the Nordstrom team and their local shoppers.
Outcome: In the LA market, demand for Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store increased by 4x, and customers who visit Nordstrom Local spend 2.5x more on average. Nordstrom Locals also continue to be a key touchpoint for returns, helping them get items back eight days faster, allowing them to turn products around and sell it again much faster. Locals also continue to be a driver of online-only customers to their physical locations, which is an important part of their business because spend increases the more channels their customers use.
