Project Manager

This is a client-facing role, responsible for working with our project management team to manage programs and lead projects to ensure seamless execution of retail construction projects.  The role will work across all phases of the project life-cycle.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

Planning & Preconstruction
  • Perform site assessments, documenting existing conditions and overall code/zoning implications
  • Commission early engineering site evaluations
  • Analyze project permitting requirements in conjunction with the internal architectural team
  • Coordinate with real estate brokers and maintain awareness of the Client real estate pipeline
  • Develop a schedule for all project stakeholders
  • Establish a budget & financial risk log
  • Understand design intent and goals for successful implementation
  • Review CD sets for accuracy and completeness, and perform QA/QC checks
  • Communication liaison between project teams, including the coordination of architecture needs within the project workflow, as well as all third-party contractor, consultant and vendor relationships
  • Manage the contractor/vendor bid process including package preparation, quoting, bid analysis and contracting
  • Work with internal design teams to review custom fixture & signage shop drawings
  • Understand construction methods and work with external and internal design teams to perform value engineering
Construction and Installation
    • Coordination of all relevant third-party contractors and vendors, and represent the project point of contact amongst stakeholders
    • In conjunction with expediters and General Contractors, coordinate required permits and inspections
    • Manage budget and schedule, and identify and elevate risks throughout the build
    • Perform on-site progress visits and report-outs
    • Perform change order management
    • Work with junior staff to guide procurement logistics for project FF&E
    • Oversee Project Accounting, including budget tracking & reconciliation, and coordination with studio leadership for Client invoicing
    • Coordination of Punch List and project close out activity

Job Qualifications (required)

  • 8-10 years of experience in project management of retail construction/production-related projects; internal brand experience a plus, but not required
  • Possess full knowledge of industry best practice standards and expectations
  • Superior customer service abilities, with a client-focused perspective
  • Ability to lead Client presentations and display professional and mature ability to receive and give feedback
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with experience managing external project stakeholders and internal team members
  • Track record of successful project schedule and budget management
  • Ability to read and interpret Construction Drawings
  • Experience managing external vendors, with knowledge of design, architecture, permitting, bid, and construction processes
  • Comfortable with on-site project work and travel
  • A passion for retail and the design and production of retail stores and experiential pop-ups
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and/or Adobe Suite a plus
  • Familiarity with jurisdictional code research a plus
